2022 is history, and I’m supremely glad for that. It was a very rough year. Just when you thought we might bounce back from lows, we sank to lower lows. This happened at least 3 times from what I remember. And in retrospect, we can all say that we experienced a Bear Market that was punishing and we are still feeling the effects of it at the start of the New Year, but…
Help Me, Obi-Wan Kenobi, You’re My Only Hope!
Judging from the first two weeks of 2023, I see a ray of sunshine, even as these torrential storm systems are pummeling California as we speak, causing flash floods in a previously drought-stricken time.
So, all is not lost, although a slew of stocks are underwater in the portfolio right now. Still, the big winners of the portfolio are carrying the weight, those that were bought pre-pandemic.
And the big market cap corporations like Apple and Microsoft have been down for quite some time, that I’ve been looking to other sectors for greener pastures, like defense stocks.
Day Trading Was the Silver Lining in 2022
Currently, I have a 100% success rate in 2023, having day traded or swing traded 6 stocks for profits.
In 2022, that was my only success story, day trading, and I achieved at 95% success rate. The volatility of the over stock market helped in day trading.
What to Expect in 2023?
Apparently, I don’t have a crystal ball. And, I’m not the only one who saw the bear market coming at the beginning of 2022. And I don’t want to get into conspiracy theories or any kind of theory as to what happened… I don’t have time to dwell on things of that nature.
Being a jazz musician, I think day trading suits me well because a jazz musician improvises and performs in real time. Things are fluid, constantly changing within a song, just like the fluidness of the stock market from second to second, minute by minute. That sort of real time scenario has worked well for me.
So, no predictions are expected from me other than this entire market WILL bounce back at one point in the future. It is inevitable! And, I see it slowly developing in these first few weeks. So, until some earth-shattering event happens or worldwide breaking news brings the markets down, I will expect that the stock market will bounce back and that all my stocks that are underwater will become profitable once again.
More thoughts on this later…
